Robot Arena 2: Design and Destroy

Robot Arena 2: Design and Destroy is a computer game developed by Gabriel Entertainment and published by Infogrames . It is the sequel to Robot Arena. Compared to its predecessor, it has many new features, such as the Havok physics engine, fully 3-D environments (robots are now able to leave the ground), and the player's ability to completely design their own robot. This includes chassis design, weapon placement, mechanics, and paint, etc.. Weapons are nearly completely customizable, including weapons that mount on various attachments, such as poles, disks, and tri-bars. There is no credit system, parts can be taken for free as long as the weight limit has not been reached. Nearly every type of weapon in robotic combat is doable, but servo motor based weaponry (e.g., hydraulic crushers, lifting devices, etc.) does not work. Although not well received from a marketing standpoint, this game has a dedicated fanbase and a community that is still active today. Those who still play it use two versions. One is called 'Stock/base' by the community - `Stock` which is the original game and the other is called 'DSL' which is a modded version of the game that has components and arenas created by the community itself.

Descent: FreeSpace – The Great War + Silent Treat expansion

Descent: FreeSpace – The Great War is a 1998 space combat simulation IBM PC compatible computer game developed by Volition, Inc. when it was split off from Parallax Software. Published by Interplay Entertainment, it is also known as Conflict: FreeSpace – The Great War in Europe. In 2001, it was ported to the Amiga platform as FreeSpace – The Great War by Hyperion Entertainment.
The story places the player in the role of a human pilot in the Galactic Terran Alliance, as it engages in war with the alien Parliamentary Vasudan Empire. This war is interrupted by the appearance of the enigmatic and militant Shivans, who begin slaughtering Terrans and Vasudans alike. Putting aside their differences, the Terrans and Vasudans form an alliance, and the player is assigned to missions to stop the Shivans' genocidal advance. The player pilots a starfighter, and alongside competent AI wingmen, completes these missions to determine the fate of two races. Important battles in the story feature capital ships, which dwarf the fighters piloted by the player, and explode spectacularly on destruction.
Descent: FreeSpace was well received as a single-player space simulation that integrated all the desired features of its genre, but its multiplayer mode was plagued by lag and inaccurate tracking of statistics. Its expansion, Silent Threat, which comprised additional missions, was also released in 1998. Its sequel, FreeSpace 2, was released a year later in 1999.

Star wars battlefront 2

Star Wars: Battlefront II is a first and third-person shooter video game developed by Pandemic Studios, and published by LucasArts. The game is the sequel to the successful Star Wars: Battlefront and features new vehicles, characters, game mechanics, maps, and missions. The game was released in PAL regions on October 31, 2005 on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox platforms, and in North America on November 1 of the same year. It was later updated to be backwards compatible for the Xbox 360. It was also released on the PlayStation Store on October 20, 2009 for download on the PSP.
Unlike its predecessor, Battlefront II features a more narrative-based campaign, retelling portions of the Star Wars story from the point of view of a veteran Imperial stormtrooper, reminiscing about his tour of duty in service of both the Galactic Republic and as part of the Galactic Empire. Gameplay additions over Battlefront include the use of Jedi, additional game modes, and objective-based space battles.
Battlefront II was fairly well received, with the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions scoring in the mid 80s at aggregators GameRankings and Metacritic. The PC version scored slightly lower at both sites, scoring a 76 at GameRankings and 78 at Metacritic. The PSP version was the worst received, scoring 71 at GameRankings and 69 at Metacritic. Reviewers generally praised the narrative-based story, however some felt that the upgrades from the original were not enough to merit the price.

Rise of Nations - Gold Edition

Rise of Nations employs the concept of "territory", as employed in later installments of the Civilization series of games; the area near the player's settlements is considered their territory, and players may only construct buildings within their territory or that of an ally. A nation's borders can be expanded by the creation and expansion of cities and forts, a technology tree, and obtaining access to certain rare resources. Other technologies and resources cause enemy units to suffer attrition over time, which can eventually destroy an unsupported invasion force.
Cities are centrally important to gameplay; most buildings can only be built within a certain distance of a city, borders are most easily expanded by building and expanding cities, and cities are the only source of the resource-collecting Citizen unit. Only a limited number of cities can be built, and a city can only be destroyed by its owner. Conquered cities join the conqueror's faction.
Citizens (resource-collecting workers) in Rise of Nations do not remain idle after creation until orders are given to them; rather, after a brief pause, idle citizens look for any nearby construction sites, unoccupied resource gathering sites, or damaged buildings and automatically move to build, gather, or repair there. This option can be disabled if desired. All resource patches in Rise of Nations are infinite, unlike the finite amount of resources found in, for example, Warcraft single-player campaigns; the main limit is the player's maximum-collection-rate cap, which must be upgraded via research.
Unlike most RTS games, which feature four (Age of Empires), three (Company of Heroes), two (Warcraft, StarCraft, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, and Rise of Legends, the sequel to Rise of Nations), or one (Homeworld, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, and The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II) resource, there are six resources in Rise of Nations, five of which (food, timber, metal, oil, and wealth) are used mostly to build units and buildings. The sixth resource, knowledge, is used for researching technologies, though it is also necessary for the construction of missiles and the last two World Wonders (supercollider and space program). Despite this proliferation of resources, each building, technology or unit type requires only one or two types to build; thus, gameplay is streamlined. While creating harvesting infrastructure can be time-consuming, it is partially eased by the fact that certain resources only become very available after progressing to a certain age; for instance, the player cannot harvest Oil until they have entered the Industrial Age because oil was not needed until after the Industrial Revolution.
As in the Civilization series, any nation can be played during any age, regardless of that nation's fate throughout actual history. Some unique units are based on units that those factions had, if certain nations were not destroyed in real-life history: for example, the Native American nations (the Aztecs, Maya, and Inca) have unique units in the Modern and Information ages which resemble real-world Iberian-South American guerrillas. The end conditions are also made to be historically neutral, in that one can win the game by a capital capture, territorial superiority, researching four dominating technologies, or the usual wonder and score victories.
Each of the 18 civilizations in Rise of Nations has its own set of between four and eight unique units spread throughout the ages, if at the age of play the faction did not exist in history the faction uses default units that were used in that time. Rise of Nations uses a hybrid 2D/3D engine to render buildings, but a 3D engine to render units, terrain, and special effects.
A single player campaign, Conquer the World, is included in the game. It is comparable to the board game Risk, except that attacks on enemy territories take place using the in-game battle engine, which can last as long as 120 minutes depending upon the scenario. The campaign map is similar to Risk's, but luck is not a factor. The player can also purchase reinforcements or bonus cards and engage in diplomacy with other nations. The campaign starts at the Ancient Age and progresses slowly over the course over the campaign to end at the Information Age (present day). Within the context of a battle, it may be possible to advance to the next available age (and thus benefit from the associated potential unit upgrades in that battle). There are five different campaigns, "Alexander the Great", "Napoleon", "The New World", "The Cold War", and "Conquer the World". They all follow a set formula in which the player either chooses a nation (New World, Cold War) or is put with their general's historic nation (Alexander the Great, Napoleon) aside from "Conquer the World", in which any nation may be chosen to play throughout every age in the game.
Rise of Nations uses an Elo rating system to rank players.
Rise of Nations was shown in 2008 to improve a variety of "critical cognitive skills", most prominently working memory and task-switching ability, in older adults.

FIFA Football 2003

FIFA Football 2003, known as FIFA Soccer 2003 in North America, is an association football video game produced by Electronic Arts and released by EA Sports. It was released in October 2002.
FIFA 2003 is the tenth game in the FIFA series and the seventh to be produced in 3D. A number of new features were added to improve upon the previous version. Club Championship Mode was introduced with the feature of playing against 17 of Europe's top clubs in their own stadiums and the fans singing their unique chants and songs. A TV-style broadcast package gives highlights at half-time and full-time, as well as comprehensive analysis. One of the most anticipated new features was EA Sport's "Freestyle Control" which allows the user to flick the ball on and lay it off to team mates. Other additions include greater likenesses of some of the more well-known players such as Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho, as well as realistic player responses.
The European cover features Roberto Carlos, Ryan Giggs, and Edgar Davids, representing Brazil, Manchester United and Juventus respectively. In the United States, Landon Donovan appeared in Roberto Carlos' place.

Dungeon Siege - Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna

Dungeon Siege is a role-playing video game developed by Gas Powered Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Chris Taylor (from Total Annihilation) showed Dungeon Siege years in production for the first time at E3 2000. The game was released in 2002 and later bundled with the X800 line of video cards in 2005.
In November 2003, Gas Powered Games and Mad Doc Software developed an official standalone expansion pack for the game called Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna that includes the original game.

Plot

In the Kingdom of Ehb, a humble farmer's life is turned upside down when a small band of savage creatures, the Krug, attack a farming community. They must be stopped and the player's character is tasked with seeking help from the neighboring town of Stonebridge. Along the way, the player meets others willing to help them in the quest. The player soon discovers, however, that the story does not end upon reaching Stonebridge as all of Ehb is suffering because of evil creatures.
The farmer turned hero has to journey through the Kingdom in hopes of reaching the Castle Ehb in order to stop the Seck, a race of mysterious, spiteful humanoid monsters, who awakened from their imprisonment beneath the Castle. Along the way, the hero has to face armies of wild creatures, Krugs, a colony of spiders, hordes of undead, Goblins and their futuristic technology, Droogs, and even an ancient dragon, Scorch. The player's final objective is to enter the Seck lair under the Castle and defeat Gom, their leader.

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings (no cinematic)

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings is a real-time strategy (RTS) video game developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft. Released in 1999 for the Microsoft Windows and Macintosh operating systems, it was the second game in the Age of Empires series. An expansion, The Conquerors, was released in 2000. A PlayStation 2 version was released by Konami in 2001, and a Nintendo DS spinoff, Age of Empires: The Age of Kings was developed by Backbone Entertainment in 2006. A Dreamcast port, by Konami, was canceled.
The Age of Kings is set in the Middle Ages and contains thirteen playable civilizations. They are the Britons, Byzantines, Celts, Goths, Teutons, Franks, Mongols, Chinese, Japanese, Persians, Saracens, Turks and the Vikings. Players aim to gather resources, which they use to build towns, create armies, and defeat their enemies. There are five historically-based campaigns, which constrict the player to specialized and story-backed conditions. There are three additional single-player game modes, and multiplayer is supported. Despite using the same game engine and similar code to its predecessor, development of The Age of Kings took a year longer than expected, forcing Ensemble Studios to release Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome in 1998 instead. The design team focused on resolving significant issues in Age of Empires, but noted on release that some problems remained.
Reception of The Age of Kings was positive. The significant number of new features was praised, as were the gameplay improvements. Some reviewers were critical of the presentation of units—they were seen as bland and uninteresting—while others considered The Age of Kings to be overly similar to its predecessor, Age of Empires. Three months after its release, two million copies of The Age of Kings had been shipped, and it topped sales charts in seven countries. The game won multiple awards and has had a significant impact on future games in its genre. Both the original Age of Empires II and the expansion pack were later released as "the Gold Edition".
In 2013, Age of Empires II: HD Edition was announced and given a release date of 9 April 2013 on the Steam digital distribution platform for Windows operating systems only. The HD Edition includes both the original game and the expansion The Conquerors, as well as updated graphics for high-resolution displays. It also supports user-generated content through the Steam Workshop and multiplayer games provided through the Steam servers. On August 16, 2013 Microsoft announced The Forgotten, the first new official expansion in nearly 14 years and exclusive to the HD Edition. The Forgotten originated as an unofficial fan-made expansion to the game known as Forgotten Empires

Gameplay

The Age of Kings focuses on building towns, gathering resources, creating armies and ultimately conquering your opponents by destroying their units and buildings. Players conquer rival towns and empires as they advance one of 13 civilizations through four "Ages": the Dark Age, the Feudal Age, the Castle Age (The Middle Ages), and the Imperial Age, reminiscent of the Renaissance—a 1000 year timeframe. Advancing to a new Age unlocks new units, structures, and technologies, but players must first build certain buildings from their current age and then pay a sum of resources (typically food and gold).
Civilian units, called "villagers", are used to gather resources; they are either male or female – gender does not affect their abilities. Resources can be used to train units, construct buildings, and research technologies, among other things; for example, players can research better armour for infantry units. The game offers four types of resources: food, wood, gold, and stone. Food is obtained by hunting animals, gathering berries, harvesting livestock, farming, and shore fishing and fishing from boats. Wood is gathered by chopping down trees. Gold is obtained from either gold mines, trade or collecting relics in a monastery, and stone is collected from stone mines. Villagers require checkpoints, typically depository buildings (town center, mining camp, mill, and lumber yard), where they can store gathered resources. Each civilization can purchase upgrades that increase the rate of gathering these resources. Players can construct a market for trade; players can trade wood, stone, and food for gold, and use gold to buy other resources. Market prices fluctuate with every transaction. Furthermore, markets and docks can also generate gold by using trading carts or cogs which are used to visit foreign markets and ports; once they return to the player's market/dock, gold is added to the stockpile. The amount of gold a trade unit earns on each trip is related to the distance it had to travel to a foreign market; more gold is earned on longer trips. It is possible to trade with enemies' markets or docks, but the player's trading units may be attacked or destroyed by enemy units in the process. Players do not need to keep trading manually, as once they select the port or market the trading units infinitely continue to trade.
There are five campaigns in The Age of Kings, containing historically-based scenarios such as Genghis Khan's invasion of Eurasia, Barbarossa's Crusade, or Saladin's defence of the Holy Land. In the Joan of Arc and William Wallace campaigns, the player can control a unit based on its namesake; in others, players take orders from guiding spirits representative of the army's commander. The William Wallace campaign is a tutorial that guides new players through the basic processes of the game, such as moving units, gathering resources and building before moving on the campaign play proper.
Additional game modes are available to the player in The Age of Kings. One mode, random map, generates a map from one of several randomly chose map generating scripts, with players starting in the Dark Age with a Town Center, three villagers (or more depending on civilisation), and a scout unit. The game can be won through military conquest, by constructing a special building known as a Wonder and keeping it standing for a certain amount of time, or by obtaining control of all relics on the map for a set amount of time. Deathmatch mode allows players to begin with large amounts of resources, creating a focus on military dominance, while in the regicide mode each player is given a king unit, winning by killing all of the other monarchs.

Civilizations

Players choose to play as one of 13 civilizations split into four architectural styles, Western European, Eastern European, Middle Eastern, and East Asian, that determine building appearance in-game. The civilizations have varying strengths and weaknesses with regards to economics, technology, and battle, and each has access to a different, very powerful "Unique Unit". Additionally, each civilization provides an individual team bonus in team games. To add variety, each civilization has a set of soundbites in its native language (except the Goths who speak German and the monks that speak Latin) that are uttered by units when selected or instructed to perform a task.
The 13 civilizations are:

Units

Every player has a limit to the number of units they can create—a population limit—but may not immediately use the entire potential population. The population capacity, which can be capped at anywhere between 75 – 200 in intervals of 25, is based on the number of houses, Castles, or Town Centers—the main building in a player's town—which have been built. The Age of Kings introduced two significant new features for unit management: the idle villager button, which helps players identify villagers that have not been assigned a task, and the town bell, which sends all a player's villagers into their Town Center, Castle, or tower for safety; units garrisoned within these three buildings, especially archers, increase the building's firepower (towers fire more arrows with units garrisoned inside) including the town center, which can not fire anything at all without someone garrisoned there.
The Age of Kings also includes five types of military units: infantry, archers, cavalry, siege weaponry, and naval units. Certain types of infantry, archers, and cavalry are "counter units" with special defenses against other types of unit. The three human classes of military generally follow a rock-paper-scissors model. For example, infantry are generally powerful against buildings but weak against cavalry, thus the infantry counter units—spearmen and pikemen—have attack bonuses against cavalry. Each Civilization in The Age of Kings has one or more special units that are exclusive to that Civilization. For instance, the Britons have access to Longbowmen, an archery unit with increased range. These Civilization-specific units are generally more powerful, but still follow the basic rock-paper-scissors model. The monk is a special kind of military unit that has the ability to convert enemy units to the player's civilization, and to heal allied units. Monks are also used to collect relics; relics accumulate gold once held in the player's monastery — the more relics are captured, the faster the gold is accumulated. Collecting all five relics on the map is one method by which a player can win a random map game, depending on the victory setting. Once a player has all five in their monasteries, a timer is shown to all players. If an opposing player does not destroy a monastery holding a relic after the set time, then that player wins.

Buildings

The buildings in The Age of Kings are split into the economic and military buildings categories.Buildings can research technologies and upgrades that increase economic, military or unit-based efficiency, as well as provide resources for the player.
The most important economic building is the Town Center, where villagers are created, all types of resources can be stored, some technologies are researched, and the player can advance to the next Age. The Town Center can fire arrows at enemy units within range if villagers or archers are garrisoned while under attack. Other economic buildings available include storage buildings for resources, farms, docks (the dock may also produce several military ships), and houses to support a higher population.
Military buildings include unit-producing buildings such as barracks, archery ranges, stables, and castles, as well as defensive buildings such as walls and towers. Military buildings can perform research to improve the abilities of military units, increasing their strength, defensive capabilities, or other attributes. The castle is a military building which can build trebuchets, train the civilization's 'Unique Unit', and fire arrows at enemy units within range, with garrisoned units (notably archery units) firing extra arrows. It can only be built after a player has reached the Castle Age, although in some game options, players can begin with an already-built castle as early as the Dark Age.
There are two main defensive buildings, the wall and the tower. The two types of walls, stone walls and the weaker palisades, are used to prevent access to an enclosed area whilst providing a solid line of defense. Gates can be installed in stone walls to allow allied units to access a defended area.Towers are equipped with the ability to fire arrows (watch tower and its upgrades) and bombs (bombard tower) at unfriendly units, and can be used in conjunction with the wall in defense mechanisms.

Multiplayer

The Age of Kings supports multiplayer over the Internet, or via a local area network (LAN). Up to eight players can take part in one game, with all of the single player game modes available. The MSN Gaming Zone supported the game until the service closed on June 19, 2006. Alternative services at GameSpy Arcade, GameRanger, and Voobly were recommended as a replacement.
The HD Edition released in 2013 supports multiplayer through Steam.

Custom Scenario

The Age of Kings features a user-friendly campaign/scenario editor that can be used to create fully customized battles and missions with unique objectives (Triggers) and victory conditions that are set by the user. The NPCs in the campaign/scenario editor automatically possess fully functioning artificial intelligence, so minimal programming is required. It is also possible to string user-created games into a whole campaign in the same way as with the historical campaigns, including videos.
